International Dot Day- On Tuesday, September 15^th, Ironton Elementary students will celebrate International Dot Day! All classes will read the story The Dot by Peter Reynolds and create a dot that will be included in a schoolwide display. The book shares messages of trying your best, not giving up, and getting started, even when tasks are hard or overwhelming. On September 15^th, students are encouraged to wear dots, colorful clothing, or shirts with a positive message.

Schoolwide Book Swap- Our first book swap of the year will be held on Friday, September 18^th. All students K-5 will visit the book swap on September 18^th. Please see the book swap flyer sent home with your child for more information. Contact Mrs. Williams, Reading Specialist, with any questions at williamsa@parklandsd.net.

 The Knight School Chess Academy

Ironton Elementary School welcomes The Knight School Chess Academy on Thursday afternoons this year, from 3:45 to 5:00 pm, for all K-5 students. Click here to enroll your child.  Choose “Elementary Chess” and search for Ironton Elementary, then click the “Enroll Now!” button.  Questions can be directed to Nicole at 484-602-5504 or nicole@theknightschool.com.

• Kindergarten Orientation

Students:  8:50 - 10:00 am

Students will ride the bus to school or be dropped off by parents if they are parent transport.  Transportation information will be available in HAC on August 17^th.  Please be sure to check your child’s bus information.  Students will not ride the bus home.  

Parents:    9:30 - 10:00 am

Letters were mailed home along with a name badge for your child to wear to school.  Please make sure they board the bus with the name tag. 

If you purchased items from the kindergarten supply list, please bring them with you and drop them off in the office when you arrive for orientation.

 

• New Student Orientation

10:45 – 11:45 am, Cafeteria

Introduction to Ironton for summer registrants and their parents in 1^st through 5^th grades, followed by an opportunity to tour the building, visit their classroom and meet their teacher.

YEARBOOK ORDERS - Tomorrow, April 30^th is the deadline to order a 2025/26 yearbook for your child.

Cost:  $25.00

Order online or if you prefer to pay by cash or check, order forms were sent home with students. 

Please Note:  All yearbooks will be shipped directly to school and distributed to students at the end of the school year.

ATTENTION 5^TH GRADE PARENTS:  The Ironton Elementary PTO will purchase a yearbook for all 5^th grade students as their farewell gift.

Ironton Art & Technology Showcase

Tuesday, May 5th

6:00 - 8:00 pm

Come out to see all the wonderful art that students have been working on throughout the school year.  All artwork will be displayed on the first floor of the building.  Makerspace and art activities will be located in the Media Center and the first floor hallways.

2026-2027 Kindergarten Registration

If you have a child who is turning 5 years old prior to September 1, 2026, it’s time to register for kindergarten.  

Similarly, if you have a child who is enrolled in a private kindergarten program who you are planning to enroll for the first time in Parkland Schools for first grade, we invite you to register now.  Those entering first grade must be a minimum of five (5) years and seven (7) months of age by September 1, 2026.  Students must be of appropriate chronological age for school registration.
